Dr Iqbal was brought up and schooled in Glasgow. He trained at Aberdeen University, graduating in 2002 before staying on to work at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and train as a GP. He joined the Denburn medical practice, as a partner, in 2012 and has special areas of interest in substance misuse and unscheduled care. Dr Iqbal is a GP trainer and also works part time at the Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partnership as a clinical lead. In 2018 he was awarded fellowship of the Royal College of General Practitioners.
